USW steps up Infinity Rubber campaign
ERJ staff report (DS)
Toronto, Ontario -- The United Steelworkers (USW) has released a new video on one of the longest strikes in Toronto history. The strike at the Infinity Rubber plant in Toronto's Etobicoke neighbourhood has entered its 20th month.
USW issued a press release saying, "The video tells the story of how James Chung, Infinity's CEO, forced workers on strike after he and his management team led the predecessor company into bankruptcy. Striking workers recount the hardship and injustice they have faced since Chung and his group acquired the $21.5-million plant for a small fraction of its value - a mere $7.5 million - and proceeded to demand huge concessions from workers."
"We will be working closely with the USW to bring a just resolution to this dispute," said John Cartwright, president of the Toronto and York Region Labour Council.
