West Footscray Victoria, Australia -- Australia's largest conveyor belt maker is adding a second curing press as part of a new Aus$20 million (Euro 14.6 million) expansion at its new factory in Kwinana. The press will double capacity at the facility, which was built only a year ago.
When the new press is on stream, in 2013, the plant will have capacity to make some 200 000 metres per year. Fenner-Dunlop set up the plant in 2010 with an investment of Aus$70 million to serve the Australian mining industry with a range of conveyor belt products.
“Mining companies in Western Australia now have the convenience of dealing with a substantial and state-of the-art heavyweight conveyor belt manufacturer in their own backyard,†said Fenner Dunlop executive director, David Landgren.
“Mining companies in Western Australia now have the convenience of dealing with a substantial and state-of the-art heavyweight conveyor belt manufacturer in their own backyard,†he said.
“Previously the state's resources and industrial sector, particularly the iron ore industry, relied on importing a large percentage of the heavyweight steel-reinforced conveyor belting required for their operations.
The investment will incrtase employment at the plant by some 30 percent; meanwhile, Fenner-Dunlop will double its intake of trainees to 72 per year from 36.
