NR prices 17 August
ERJ staff report (DS)
London -- International Rubber Consortium Chief Secretary Yium Tavarolit said NR prices in Tokyo are unlikely to fall below yen 360 ($4.70) per kilo. The report came from Dow Jones, but was re-published on IRCo's own website.
Dow Jones said, "Yium said that despite price volatility recently, prices are at acceptable levels for both producers and consumers. He added that price levels should stay around the $4.50-$5/kg level this year. Spot rubber is being offered well above $4.50/kg--down sharply from record levels well above $6/kg in February, when benchmark Tocom rubber was trading above Y500/kg. "
On Tokyo's Tocom Exchange, prices for the six-month contract rose by about two yen overnight, trading at yen 362 ($4.73) per kg on Wednesday 17 August. Shorter-dated prices also rose slightly, to close at yen 356.
In Singapore, SGX saw November 2011 contracts priced around $4.64. Short-dated RSS3 was trading higher than Tuesday at $4.64. TSR20 prices for November delivery were trading around $4.55, down by $0.10 on Tuesday's prices.
In India, the NMCE saw September deliveries close below Rs 200 at around Rs 198.6 ($4.37) per kilo
In China, the Shanghai Futures Exchange saw prices rise by a fraction of a yuan, with September deliveries trading at around Yuan 33.7 ($5.28) per kilo
