Kenda's Taiwan car tyre plant on stream - report

Taipei, -- Kenda Rubber Industrial Co. has reportedly activated its first car tyre plant in Taiwan, and its second worldwide. The plant reportedly has a daily output of 5,000 units which will mostly be shipped to the US and Europe and will contribute an additional NT$1.8 billion (euro ?? million) to its revenue a year.
Official Taiwanese news agency CENS (Taiwan Economic News) said on 22 August that the new venture adds car tyres to Kenda's established range of two-wheeler tyres. It is the company's second car tyre plant, following in the footsteps of its factory in Shanghai, China, which has annual capacity of 5.76 million units.
The CENS report said, "With the Taiwan plant activated, the company said that its daily output across Taiwan and China will gradually increase starting in the third quarter of this year and hit 30,000 units by the end of the year, 50% more than the current capacity. "
CENS sadded that Kenda is increasing car tyre capacity at its Shanghai plant, while setting up new production lines at its Tianjin plant, which will be complete by the end of 2012 and come on stream in the first quarter of 2013 with daily output of 20,000 units
