Bridgestone may not have enough tyres
ERJ staff report (DS)
Tokyo - Bridgestone has confirmed that it has told Japanese car makers that it may not have enough tyres to supply their needs this year, due to shortages of production capacity.
A spokesman for Bridgestone said there is likely to be a shortage of several hundred thousand units in the months from July to December 2011 for OEM customers in Japan.
The company did not recognise the figures of 500 000 units and 5 percent of order volume quoted by a journalist in the Japanese business daily, Nikkei.
A Bridgestone spokesman said the Nikkei had made certain calculations, but Bridgestone was unable to say how it arrived at those figures.
