Lanxess increases prices for rubber chemicals
ERJ staff report (TP)
Cologne, Germany – Specialty chemicals company Lanxess will raise the off list prices worldwide for its rubber chemicals with effect from 1 June or as contracts allow.
Depending on product and region, the adjustments will be up to €0.70 per kg.
“After the minor move we made in April, this is now a significant step towards restoring our margins to acceptable levels,” said Luis López-Remón, Head of the Lanxess Rubber Chemicals business unit. “The recent escalation of Chinese environmental enforcement activities, in particular for waste water, is reaffirming our determination to position ourselves as a viable, long-term supplier of high quality rubber chemicals.”
Lanxess rubber chemicals are mainly used in the manufacture of rubber products such as tires, hoses and sealing profiles as well as in the production of drive elements, eg timing belts or transmission belts.
The Rubber Chemicals business unit is part of Lanxess’ Performance Chemicals segment, which recorded sales of €2.13bn in fiscal 2013.
As reported by ERJ on 19 March, the German firm last raised its prices for rubber chemicals on 1 April due
to "higher raw material prices and unfavourable exchange rate effects".
