John McNaught is to leave Bridgestone UK on 31 Oct. the company has announced. In a 12-year stint, McNaught helped grow Bridgestone’s TBR fleet business, and managed the acquisitions of Kingsway and Bulldog. With McNaught's decision to leave, Bridgestone has appointed Robin Shaw as managing director for its North - UK, Ireland, Nordic – region as of 6 Oct. Shaw joins Bridgestone with 29 years of experience in the automotive sector, including the last seven years as aftermarket division director for Bosch and before that seven years as MD of Federal Mogul.
The US-based Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) has selected Aiman Abdrabou, global manager, energy & greenhouse gas at Goodyear as the 2014 International Energy Manager of the Year. Abdrabou leads a team of regional energy and GHG managers who have helped Goodyear’s efforts to reduce energy usage and emissions. In recent years, the team developed a new company standard for energy conservation, founded a global energy system based on the elements of continuous improvement and encouraged the continuing education of regional and plant energy leaders.It also helped link energy meters from all Goodyear plants around the world to one central system to allow for global monitoring.
UK rubber engineering group James Dawson has appointed Daragh Parker to the newly created role of head of innovation & technology. He has a track record of delivering new rubber technology products and helping customers develop next generation products for new and existing markets. Graduating from Loughborough with a degree in engineering, science and technology, Parker began his career as a product developer with Huxley Bertram. He then joined Manus (Tetra-Laval Group) in France to head up the development of innovative and, subsequently, rubber teat agricultural milking solutions. A change of direction saw Parker start his own innovative solar heating business in France, before he was approached by Avon Rubber to head up technology and innovation.
Dr. Matthias Wolfgruber had been elected a member of the Cabot Corp. board of directors. He was also appointed a member of its compensation committee and the safety, health and environmental affairs committee. Dr. Wolfgruber is CEO of Altana AG, a position he has held since 2007. He joined Altana in 2002, as president and CEO of Altana Chemie AG and a member of the management board of Altana AG. Prior to joining Altana, he held a number of management positions at Wacker-Chemie in the US and Europe from 1985 through 2002. Dr. Wolfgruber received his doctorate in chemistry from Technical University of Munich, and completed his research fellowship at the University of California, Berkeley.
Brian Harvey has joined Goldsmith and Eggleton (G&E) as quality/technical manager, Ravago Americas has announced.Harvey, who holds a BS in Chemistry from Malone College, has over 15 years’ experience in the rubber industry. In his new role he will be responsible for product development and optimization, lab management and technical support. He will also be the company’s ISO coordinator. G&E manufactures masterbatches and reprocessed elastomers. In January it transitioned its sales and marketing functions to Channel Prime Alliance (CPA), a Ravago company. CPA is a distributor of synthetic rubber, TPEs, carbon black and plastics resins.
