Stockholm – Trelleborg AG’s Industrial Solutions business has signed an agreement to purchase the privately held Superlas Group, a developer and producer of industrial hose, reported Rubber News.
The transaction is expected to be finalised in the second quarter. Financial details were not disclosed.
Superlas makes its hose for a range of industries, including construction, civil engineering, processing, industrial cleaning and tanker transportation.
It operates plants in Turkey and has sales offices in Austria and the United Kingdom. The company recorded sales of about $60.6m (€43.8m) in 2013.
“The acquired operation is a major manufacturer of medium/low pressure industrial hoses and one of the world’s largest in mandrel-build hoses,” said Mikael Fryklund, president of the Industrial Solutions business.
Update: On 2 July, Trelleborg finalised its acquisition of Superlas.
Mikael Fryklund, president of the Trelleborg Industrial Solutions’ business area, said: "Central to our growth strategy, the acquisition of Superlas, which boasts global sales primarily across Europe and North America, confirms Trelleborg’s market leading position in industrial hoses in Europe. In addition, it facilitates the strengthening of our footprint and customer base in what is a highly attractive and profitable growth market for industrial hoses, North America."
Employing 600 people globally, the main design, manufacturing and assembly activities of Superlas are based on the outskirts of Istanbul, Turkey. Also in Turkey are two production facilities in Gebze, a mixing plant in Düzce and a hose facility in Tokat.
