2 firms join IRSG Panel of Associates

Singapore -- Asahi Kasei Chemicals Corp. and Kumho Petrochemical Co. Ltd. have joined the International Rubber Study Group's Panel of Associates.
Asahi Kasei Chemicals, a subsidiary of the holding company Asahi Kasei Corp., produces chemicals and polymers including several rubber and thermoplastic elastomers, the IRSG said. The firm is building a solution SBR plant next to another one under construction in Singapore, both rated for 50,000 metric tons of capacity.
South Korea's Kumho Petrochemical claims to the have the world's largest production capacity for SBR and butadiene rubber. It also produces synthetic resins, specialty chemicals, electronic and building materials and is involved in the energy field.
The IRSG is an intergovernmental organisation of rubber producing and consuming stakeholders, made up of 36 member countries. Its Panel of Associates members, numbering more than 120, come from the rubber industry
