German manufacturer adding General Tire, Barum brands to offerings
Hanover, Germany – Continental AG is repositioning itself in the industrial and materials handling tire market with the relaunch of its solid tire sector and a three-brand strategy.
As part of the new strategy, the manufacturer has unveiled two new General Tire and Barum brands in addition to the existing Continental brand, said a 23 June statement.
The Continental brand, said the company, will include a wide range of premium tires while the General brand will cover the “medium intensity portfolio” and Barum covers tires for “low intensity” use.
The Continental-branded tires, said the German manufacturer, are suited for “demanding high intensity applications" offering "a high level of mileage, endurance and durability.”
Ideal for forklifts and other industrial vehicle applications used in production and manufacturing, the “super-elastic and press-on-band (POB)” tires are claimed to be “extremely stable and ensure low rolling resistances.”
Continental said it is launching three General-branded tires for forklifts, trailers and other types of industrial equipment in several sales regions of the world this year.
The brand includes tires for indoor and outdoor logistics applications, "with a strong focus on a durable and robust performance."
Complementing the range, Barum Industry solid tire is particularly suitable for applications with high cost awareness and short operating cycles.
To be launched globally in 2022, the tires have been specially re-designed for operations that use their forklift trucks only occasionally or where utilisation is low, Conti added.
