Equipment procurement for factory in Kedah Rubber City set for completion this year
Hong Kong – Prinx Chengshan Tire Co. is advancing the construction of its Malaysian factory in Kedah Rubber City, the Shandong Provincial Department of Commerce reported 28 Sept.
The $300-million (€255 million) facility covers 1,000 acres of land and will supply core markets such as the US and Latin America, Prinx officials said during a recent Shandong investment symposium in Malaysia.
The first phase of the plant has a designed annual production capacity of 6 million passenger car tires and 600,000 truck and bus tires.
According to the local commerce department, over 95% of the production equipment and auxiliary facilities are sourced from Chinese suppliers.
“All equipment procurement is expected to be completed by the end of this year, with smooth operation in the fourth quarter of 2026,” the report added.
The project is also expected to boost Chinese exports of equipment and machinery, as well as raw materials such as carcass materials, carbon black, and rubber additives.
Prinx said it intends to use its Malaysian base as “a strategic fulcrum” to build a supply chain network across ASEAN and expand its reach into the Indo-Pacific region.
