TireShow21: VMI

VMI has introduced a third generation of its Cortexx HMI (human-machine interface), describing this as “the next step in user-friendly, highly secured, full control” for tire-building and other processes.

Called VMI Cortexx Core, this new release features “unlimited possibilities” for extending the number of screens around the machine. 

Customers can strategically place large information screens around the machine, touch panels to operate the machine where needed, or smaller screens that are positioned at certain TBM modules to provide status information to the operator. 

Screens can have their own specific functionality and lay-out but are all controlled by one server, giving end users the option to manage messaging and translations centrally.

Cortexx Core, adds VMI, applies ‘event-driven data transfer’, a new technique for information-exchange between server and all client-screens that avoids unnecessary use of bandwidth. 

As a configurable interface to an MES, it can be used to send data, such as tire quality reports or performance reports to customer databases, while bi-directional communication, enables checking to see, for example, if a correct cassette has been loaded into TBM. 

Other features include an integrated back-up functionality for quick recovery in case of a hardware breakdown, while the system can be configured with a ‘user right’ structure giving full control on access and modification rights.
