Facility in Changchun produces “independently developed 59/80R63” Linglong-branded all-steel giant tire
Changchun, China – Linglong Tire has rolled out what it describes as the “world’s largest” tire at its facility in Changchun, Jilin province, the company announced 20 Oct.
The “first independently developed 59/80R63 ‘Linglong’ branded giant all-steel engineering radial tire rolled off the production line” at the plant 18 Oct, said the Chinese tire maker.
The rollout, said Linglong, marks the company’s official entry into the ranks of the few companies worldwide capable of producing giant 63-inch all-steel tires.
With a diameter exceeding four meters and a single tire weight exceeding six tonnes, the tire is currently the world's largest, according to Linglong.
The tire is primarily used on large open-pit mining dump trucks, meeting the demanding, complex, and intensive operating conditions of mining areas.
During the development of the 59/80R63 tire, Linglong said it overcame “a series of key technical challenges” in the giant OTR radial tire, including structural design, material formulation, and process tooling.
The tire, it said, signifies that Linglong “has broken through the technological barriers long monopolised by leading international brands.”
With a maximum load capacity of 100 tonnes per tire, the product is suitable for mainstream large mining dump trucks such as the Caterpillar 797 and Komatsu 980.
