Philip Nelles named to lead ContiTech

Hanover, Germany – Continental AG’s supervisory board has appointed Philip Nelles to lead the German group's industrial business area ContiTech, it was announced 16 March.

Currently head of the mobile fluid systems business unit at ContiTech, Nelles will join Continental’s executive board 1 June, succeeding Hans-Jürgen Duensing, who is ending his term prematurely on 31 May “for personal reasons”.

Duensing has worked with Conti for the past 35 years and has been a member of the executive board since 1 May 2015. His executive board appointment was extended in September 2017 until the end of April 2023, said a Continental statement 16 March.

“In the past years, Hans-Jürgen Duensing accelerated and expanded the transformation of this business area with a high level of concentration, aligning it on a course of higher profitable growth,” said CEO Nikolai Setzer.

Duensing, he said, intensified the digitalisation of products and the expansion of the business with services for various industries.

Philip Nelles is “an experienced executive with long-standing success in our company,” said Prof. Wolfgang Reitzle, chairman of the supervisory board.

He started his career at Continental in 2000, after graduating with an engineering management degree.

He has held various management positions in the mobile fluid systems business unit in Germany, Sweden and Hungary and headed the global automotive OE segment at ContiTech’s power transmission group business unit between 2010 and 2015.

He has been in charge of the mobile fluid systems business unit since 2018.
