Tire maker says manufacturing halt in Izmit is its “annual temporary production suspension”
Izmit, Turkey - Goodyear has announced that it will halt tire production at its tire manufacturing plant in Turkey as part of its “annual temporary production suspension.”
As part of the move, Goodyear will halt production 2 July and resume manufacturing 3 Aug, according to a Borsa announcement 18 June.
The move is intended for “inventory adjustment” purposes, said the filing.
The interruption is not expected to impact the employment of workers at the plant.
Operational since 1963, Goodyear's plant in Izmit has the capacity to produce 3,000 units per day of medium truck tires and agricultural tires.
Goodyear also operates a plant in Adapazari, near Izmit, where it has the capacity to produce 17,000 units per day of mainly consumer tires.
