TARRC update on developments at Brickendonbury site

Brickendonbury, UK –  The Tun Abdul Razak Research Centre, (TARRC) has supplied a statement about developments at Its Brickendonbury, Hertford site – as an update to ERJ’s article, based on TARRC’s 2019 annual report, filed 29 Sept.

TARRC statement:

In December 2019, the Tun Abdul Razak Research Centre, (TARRC), the UK based research, development and promotions unit of the Malaysian Rubber Board, (MRB), carried out a major review of the organisation in line with MRB global strategy. 

From January 2020, all research and development efforts relating to Natural Rubber and NR products, specifically for the Malaysian Rubber Industry, were centralised at its research institute in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

This resulted in a reduction of staff numbers at TARRC, the majority of which came from administrative and support functions, and a new structure to ensure continued success and growth of the organisation. 

TARRC was established in 1938 and is long regarded as one of the world’s foremost rubber research centres. For many years the majority of its funding has been provided by MRB. The new organisation will look at ways to decrease its dependency on MRB through operational enhancements, business growth and identifying other income streams utilising its unique facilities and expertise based in Hertford, UK.

TARRC, through its consultancy unit, Rubber Consultants will continue to provide a wide range of testing and consultancy services, accessible to the global rubber and associated industries. Furthermore, it has retained its capability to continue with funded contract research work, in liaison with its partners from both industry and academia. 

In addition, TARRC plans to expand its manufacturing capabilities to offer low volume supply of rubber compounds and products and to utilise its facilities and expertise to offer bespoke training courses to the industry.
