September shipments improve but nine-month figures remain below prior-year levels...
Beijing – China's exports of ‘new rubber tires’ continued to improve for the second month in a row in September, reversing the negative trend established over the first half of the year.
Tire shipments rose 15.9% year-on-year to 47.9 million units during the month, while the value of exports, as presented in US dollars, increased 6.9%, to $935 million (€790 million), China’s General Administration of Customs announced.
Weight of these exports in September jumped 16.6% from a year ago, to 630,000 tonnes.
This is the second time in 2020 that the figures have registered a year-on-year increase, after exports rose 8.2% in unit count, 3.5% in value, and 14.1% in tonnage in August.
Over the first nine months of 2020, China’s tire exports contracted by 11% compared with the same period in 2019, to 338 million units.
The nine-month export value decreased by 13.7% to $6.7 billion; volumes in tonnage dipped 8.7% to 4.3 million tonnes.
This shows at least three percentage points lower rates for year-on-year decline, compared with such rates a month ago.
