First time in 2020 that all export figures show year-on-year increases
Beijing – China's exports of ‘new rubber tires’ in August 2020 reached 46.3 million units, up 8.2% from the same month a year ago, official state figures show.
The value of exports as presented in US dollars climbed 3.5%, to $1.3 billion (€1.1 billion), according to China’s General Administration of Customs. This contrasts to a 6.6% fall in July.
Weight of these exports also jumped 14.1% from August 2019, to 610,000 tonnes.
This is the first time in 2020 that these figures all registered a year-on-year increase, and the first time this year for export tonnage to show two-digit growth as well.
Over the first eight months of 2020, China’s tire exports shrank 14.3% year on year, to 290 million units.
The seven-month export value contracted 18.8% to $8.2 billion; volumes in tonnage dipped 11.9% to 3.7 million tonnes.
Same as in July, this shows at least three percentage points lower rates for year-on-year decline, compared with such rates a month ago.
