Hexpol launches wire & cable compounds portfolio

Malmo, Sweden – Polymer compounder Hexpol AB has launched a “comprehensive portfolio” of wire and cable compounds which it said is based on high performance materials and advanced rubber technologies.

The portfolio includes silicone rubber materials, chlorinated polyethylene (CPE), EPDM, NBR+PVC, chloroprene rubber compounds, pigment and additive masterbatch, as well as thermoplastic, EVA, TPE and TPV technologies. 

Typical properties of the materials include halogen-free flame retardancy, low smoke and low toxicity. 

In addition, the materials are RoHS (restriction of hazardous substances), substance of very high concern (SVHC) and REACH compliant with grades designed to meet international cable standard such as EN50363 or IEC 60811.

The compounds, according to Hexpol, can be used at locations containing expensive or sensitive equipment, such as hospitals, airports, communication exchanges and power generation facilities.

With enhanced thermomechanical properties, the grades are suitable for telecommunication and electric cables, from high-to-low voltage, Hexpol added.

With increasing electrification and connectivity trends, Hexpol said the wire and cable industry was "a high growth marketplace." 

Therefore, the compounder has developed the portfolio taking into consideration the introduction of stricter regulations and industry standards to protect people and infrastructure.
