Lion Elastomers returns to production following Hurricane Laura's impact

Port Neches, Texas—Manufacturing has resumed at two Lion Elastomers locations in Texas, the company said.

The plants in Port Neches and Orange were knocked out due to the impact of Hurricane Laura, which made landfall 27 Aug. 

An initial inspection of the facilities was completed in just a few days, and the company said at that time only minor damage occurred. Regaining power to the locations, at that time, remained an obstacle.

With full power restored to both locations by 4 Sept, the synthetic rubber company said it was "additionally focused on inspecting electrical infrastructures, mechanical functionality of process equipment, and cleanup tasks which required electricity."

By 11 Sept, Lion indicated manufacturing had restarted in both plants in Port Neches and Orange with a plan to reach target levels within a few days.

"We are thankful to be returning to normal operations and fully servicing our customers," the company said.
