Ammanford, UK – UK materials group Haydale will launch a range of functionalised nanomaterials for improvements in the properties of elastomers during IRC 2019 this September.
Developed in a joint study with Trelleborg Antivibration Solutions and polymer consultancy Artis, the materials are produced through Haydale’s patented HDPlas plasma functionalisation process, the Ammanford-based materials company said 7 Aug.
When compounded into an elastomer, the nanomaterials which are pre-dispersed in process oils, deliver the specific property enhancements as desired to meet customer requirements.
The product, according to Haydale, is currently available as highly loaded functionalised nanomaterial dispersions and offers enhanced mechanical, physical, electrical and thermal properties of elastomer compounds.
Haydale can offer mixing, moulding and testing support to customers in order to develop cost effective, tailored solutions for volume manufacture.
Target market sectors are industrial rubber goods, transport, aerospace, infrastructure, marine and medical.
The products will be available for rubber companies to trial following the launch at IRC 2019.
During the event, Thomas Greaves, Haydale’s senior project engineer, will present a paper on the benefits of plasma functionalisation on improving the properties of recovered carbon black (rCB), graphene and other carbon-based nanomaterials in rubber compounds.
IRC 2019 will be held 3-6 Sept at the Kia Oval in London, UK.
