Denso to form new wiper blade production company

Kariya, Japan – Denso Corp. will merge its two subsidiaries, Nippon Wiper Blade Co. Ltd. and Asahi Manufacturing Co. Ltd., into a new unit effective 1 Oct.

Denso Wiper Systems Inc. will build an integrated structure encompassing design, production and supply of wiper system, strengthening its capability to meet customer needs, Denso said in a 1 July news release.

The new unit also will increase its efforts within the Denso Group to create new added value in advanced fields.

"With the auto industry undergoing a once-in-a-century transformation, the business environment is changing significantly due to swift innovations in connected, autonomous, shared and electrified technologies," Denso said.

Notably, according to the company, competition to develop automated driving technologies has intensified and increased the importance of auxiliary systems.

“Technologies including cameras and sensors have been developed for automated driving, requiring automotive component suppliers to offer wiper system products that are compatible with these changes."

Denso said the new Wiper Systems company would consist of about 1,800 employees and capital of $4.14 million (€3.7 million).

It will be based in Kosai, Japan, and operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of Denso Corp. producing wiper and washer systems for the automotive industry.
