DSM to showcase rubber alternative material at K

Heerlen, The Netherlands – Royal DSM is showcasing its expanded Arnitel co-polyester (E-TPEE) range during the K plastic & rubber show in Dusseldorf, Germany.

Billed as the material of choice for non-pneumatic tires, the thermoplastic elastomer is claimed to offer “a unique combination of flexibility, high temperature resistance, strength and processing characteristics.”

The market for flat-free tires is being driven by the need to integrate higher levels of sustainability, durability, efficiency and reduced costs, DSM said in a release 18 July.

Arnitel, DSM said, is increasingly being used as “a lighter, smarter, greener alternative” to conventional rubbers, reducing environmental impact and system costs.

The product is also used in mid-soles of athletic footwear to deliver a high rebound rate of 75-80%, compared to 65-70% offered by other materials such as E-TPU at same densities.

The material offers “consistent performance” across diverse climates; ranging from -25°C to +50°C, according to DSM.

K 2019 will be held 16-23 Oct in Dusseldorf.
