Hanover, Germany - Asahi Kasei will present its solution-polymerised styrene-butadiene rubber (S-SBR) of the fifth generation – a double-sided functionalised rubber – during the Tire Tech Expo, 5-7 March.
Developed for “next-generation” tires, the rubber is claimed to offer a “balanced solution” to the performance characteristics of rolling friction, wet grip and wear resistance.
In addition to synthetic rubber, Asahi Kasei will also exhibit fibre technologies and sensor solutions for “intelligent tires”, the company announced 25 Feb.
The Japanese company will display a tread wear and a deformation sensor, which can determine the tread wear level as well as irregularities in the surface of the tire.
Furthermore, Asahi Kasei will be presenting "Leona PA66 Filament" and "Precisé" fibre technologies for tire reinforcement.
The fibres increase the strength and robustness of the tires while reducing the tire rolling noise, the company said.
Additionally, Chigusa Yamada, manager in the "synthetic rubber" department at Asahi Kasei Europe, will present a paper on "influence of functionalised S-SBRs on silica-filled rubber compound properties" on 6 March.
