Sibur elastomers sales up despite flat volumes
Moscow – Sibur has posted a 6% year-on-year rise in sales of elastomers to RUB55 billion (€740 million) in the year 2018, helped by higher selling prices.
Sales at Sibur’s speciality rubbers and thermoplastic elastomers unit each improved by 2%, while commodity rubber sales fell slightly during the year, the company reported 21 Feb.
Production volumes across all elastomer types remained flat at 485,000 tonnes, Sibur’s 2018 annual report also shows.
Sibur’s elastomers business operates within a Plastics, Elastomers & Intermediates (PE&I) segment, which posted a 16.4% year-on-year rise in sales to RUB171.0 billion.
The elastomers business contributed 32% of total sales at the PE&I unit in 2018.
