Gadsden, Alabama – Goodyear is planning to lay off an undisclosed number of employees at its car and light truck tire plant in Gadsden during the second quarter.
A company spokeswoman said Goodyear doesn't know at this time how many or what positions will be impacted.
The facility employs about 1,600 and has a rated daily capacity of 25,000 units, according to data from ERJ’s 2018 Global Tire Report.
The company, said the spokeswoman in a statement, 'continually adjusts schedules to maximise capacity at all plants to increase efficiency.'
The move to cut jobs is part of that process, she added.
