London – The UK’s Chemicals Industries Association and EU-wide equivalent Cefic have issued a joint call for agreement to be reached in the Brexit negotiations.
The plea comes ahead of UK prime minister Theresa May’s meeting with European Council president Donald Tusk and European Commission president Jean-Claude Juncker.
“We hope these talks on 7 Feb can secure that outcome,” CIA chief executive Steve Elliott and Cefic director general Marco Mensink jointly stated.
With the 29 March deadline “fast approaching,” they urged both sides to consider the implications of a ‘no-deal’ outcome for both the UK, and the entire EU.
They hoped “negotiators [can] put the finishing touches to an agreement that commands support from within the UK and across Europe.”
