KraussMaffei relocating HQ, production in Germany

Munich, Germany – KraussMaffei Group is moving its headquarters and production plant from Munich-Allach, Germany to Parsdorf, a 30-minute drive away.

Subject to board approval, the move to the new south-Germany location will start in 2022, the plastics & rubber machinery supplier said 25 Jan.

Construction work could start in May, when an extraordinary meeting will to decide on the project, a company spokeswoman told Plastics News Europe.

KraussMaffei is making the move in anticipation of growth both in terms of staffing and production capabilities, she said in a 25 Jan telephone interview.

“We have been in this location for 100 years and it is not big enough now,” the spokeswoman commented.

With the relocation, KraussMaffei will expand its facilities from the current 140,000 square metres to roughly 250,000 square meters.

The company also expects to substantially increase the number of its employees at the site, which currently stands at 1,800.

The new building is designed to accommodate a workforce of 2,500.

KraussMaffei said the relocation was one of the largest projects in Munich of the past 30 years but did not disclose investment figures.

The maker of injection presses, extruders and tire & rubber machinery was acquired by state-owned China National Chemical Corp. (ChemChina) in 2016.

KraussMaffei was listed is China earlier this month.
