VMI expands new Poland facility
Lezsno, Poland – Tire and rubber machinery maker VMI Group has expanded its Polish production facility, which started operation just over a year ago.
Two further manufacturing halls have been added on the back of the “unprecedented success” of the Lezsno plant, the Dutch group announced 24 Jan.
The new halls are already in operation, a company spokeswoman told ERJ. She declined to give further details about the investment.
VMI’s statement referred to the expansion in the context of a ‘brought-forward’ phase 2 doubling of the site-size.
The Lezsno facility started operation in September 2017 and has been termed by VMI as ‘strategic’ to its growth.
VMI also announced the appointment of lean manufacturing expert Magda Sadowska as general manager of the Polish site.
Sadowska, it said, will lead “a highly educated and motivated work force of over 150, with an ambitious recruitment and training programme ongoing.”
