Brussels – Bridgestone Corp. has been chosen to supply tires as original fitment for the new all-electric SUV, the Audi e-tron.
Audi has selected Bridgestone for supply of six different tires from 19’’ to 21’’ – four summer and two winter sizes – as original fitments, the Japanese tire maker announced 18 Jan.
Driven by two electric engines, the Audi e-tron has a 0-60 mph of six seconds.
To match the speed, Bridgestone will be fitting Alenza 001 summer tires; which are specially-designed for SUVs.
The tire has a block structure that optimises contact with the road to improve steering response on corners.
It has been awarded the EU label grade A for wet grip.
For winter conditions, Bridgestone is supplying the Blizzak LM 001 for the new model.
The tire has “dependable cornering and handling on wet, dry, icy, slushy and snowy roads,” said Bridgestone.
The tire combines a high-silica compound combined with Bridgestone’s “nano pro-tech polymer” to ensure high grip.
In terms of rolling resistance, Bridgestone said the tires carry an EU label grad A, and enable 400km of travel on a single charge.
The OE fitment is the latest in a series of cooperation between Bridgestone and Audi.
The tire maker claims to be the “number one tire supplier of Audi.”
The Audi e-tron, built in Belgium, will be available in dealerships as of January 2019.
