Bangkok – Thai natural rubber (NR) producer Sri Trang Agro-Industry pcl is aiming to increase its rubber glove output by 74% in the next two years, according to Bloomberg.
In a 16 Jan interview with Bloomberg, vice president Vitchaphol Sincharoenkul said his company aimed to produce 30 billion gloves per year to add value and increase profit margins.
“We can’t rely too much on exporting raw materials to tire makers anymore. Making more gloves would be a perfect hedge for the future,” he added.
Sri Trang and Austrian rubber group Semperit founded rubber gloves joint venture Siam Sempermed Corp. in Songkhla, Thailand in 1989.
Following a demerger in March 2017, the Thai company took over the activities of the company which is now operated under the name Sri Trang Gloves (Thailand) Co. Ltd (STGT).
