Trelleborg forming industrial hose JV in Malaysia

Trelleborg, Sweden – Trelleborg Industrial Solutions is to form a joint venture with Wellcall Holdings Bhd for the manufacture of industrial hoses in Malaysia, Trelleborg has announced.

The JV facility is scheduled to come on-stream in 2020, said a 15 Jan statement from Trelleborg, which will own 51% of the venture.

Output will typically include composite hoses for road and rail tanker trucks as well as those for transferring aviation fuel and aggressive chemicals.

Trelleborg, which currently manufactures composite hoses in Europe, said it will contribute technological know-how in composite hoses to the venture.

The JV will also leverage the capabilities of Wellcall, with its Malaysia-based operations and local market knowledge, said Jean-Paul Mindermann, president of Trelleborg Industrial Solutions.

“Trelleborg holds a strong position in this niche segment but the joint venture will allow us to grow our production capacity, reach new markets faster and strengthen our offering,” added Mindermann.
