Berwyne, Pennsylvania – Trinseo SA president and chief executive officer Christopher Pappas is to retire in 2019, the company announced 11 Dec
Trinseo said its board of directors is now engaged in “succession planning” and intends to name a new boss soon. Pappas, it added, will help to facilitate the leadership transition.
Pappas started his career at the Dow Chemical Co., where he gathered industry experience in sales and managerial positions between 1978 and 1996.
In 1996, he joined DuPont Dow Elastomers LLC where he held several senior positions, initially as vice president of ethylene elastomers and from 1999 onwards as commercial vice president.
He joined Nova Chemicals Corp. in 2000, where he held a range of top roles before becoming president and CEO in 2009.
He was named to lead Trinseo (formerly known as Styron) in March 2010, and assumed the role in June 2010 upon the sale of Trinseo from Dow to Bain Capital Partners in June 2010.
