Trelleborg, Chinese engineering firm to advance tunnel seals

Shanghai, China – Trelleborg AB signed a memorandum of understanding with Fourth Harbor Engineering, an infrastructure construction services company and subsidiary of the state-owned China Communications Construction Co.

The partnership will set up collaborative research and development of polymer sealing systems to support China's tunnelling projects, according to a Trelleborg news release.

The agreement also potentially will see the supply of Trelleborg's tunnel sealing systems to Fourth Harbor's future tunnel projects, including the ShenZhong Link and the Dalian Bay Immersed Tunnel.

The memorandum was confirmed at a signing ceremony during the China International Import Expo, held at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai.

Bringing both organisations together allows them to capitalise on their strong points, said Ruud Bokhout, Trelleborg sales and marketing director for infrastructure.
