Detroit, Michigan – The global market for automotive ducts is on a strong growth track and set to reach $1,825.2 million by 2023, according to a market report by Stratview Research.
Manufacturers of rubber-based components, however, could miss out on the sizeable organic growth, linked by Stratview to rising urbanisation and prosperity as well as demand for SUVs.
According to the Detroit-based firm’s report, “continuous replacement of traditional rubber and metal ducts with plastics ducts” is already a feature in this market.
This, it said, is partly because “increasing demand for lighter ducts [will] remain the major driver of the segment over the next five years.”
Plastics ducts are forecast to dominate in HVAC, under-the-hood and other applications due to weight-reduction possibilities, mechanical and chemical properties, improved temperature resistance and acoustic characteristics.
The report lists BASF, DuPont, DSM and Lanxess among the key raw material suppliers and Mann+Hummel, Continental, INOAC, Mahle, Nihon Plast and Sekiso among the main manufacturers in this market.
