Toulouse, France – Imerys Performance Additives Division is introducing a “substantial” price increase on its talc, mica and wollastonite-based materials, the company announced 5 Nov.
Products affected by the price-rise, effective from January 2019 or as contracts allow, include those sold to the rubber industry, a company spokeswoman confirmed.
The decision was driven “by the significant rise in freight, energy, packaging, mining, and labour and maintenance costs in 2018,” said Imerys, noting that the trend was expected to continue in 2019.
“In spite of intensive efficiency and cost control efforts, Imerys Performance Additives cannot continue to absorb these cost increases,” the company added.
