China’s Lunte inaugurates scrap-tire recycling project

Cangzhou, Hebei – Lunte Petrochemical inaugurated a 238 kilotonnes per annum (ktpa) scrap-tire recycling project at its site in Cangzhou’s Bohai New Area on 27 Oct, according to a local government announcement.

The opening is part of Lunte Group’s phase one project with €254 million (2 billion yuan) investment that also includes 430ktpa capacity for modified asphalt and 1,500 ktpa capacity for heavy duty asphalt.

The former facility started up on the same day as the scrap-tire plant; the latter came on stream in June 2017.

Lunte is planning to expand its Cangzhou facilities into an asphalt and petrochemical site with 5,600 ktpa total capacity and €712 million overall investment, said the group’s website.

Lunte was set up in 2000 and became China’s first maker of heavy duty asphalt as well as asphalt made from scrap tire rubber powder in 2006, it further stated.

The group’s portfolio also comprises various types of asphalt and related additives.
