Hanover, Germany – Continental’s Rubber Group, which includes its Tire and ContiTech divisions invested €459.3 million, or 5.3% of sales, in the first six months of 2018, the group half-year results statement shows.
The spend, which compared to a prior-year period’s €483.1 million, or 5.6% of sales, related largely to new plant buildings in Rayong, Thailand and Clinton, Mississippi.
Continental also increase production capacity at existing plants in Sumter, South Carolina and Hefei, China. Quality-assurance and cost-cutting measures were also implemented.
At ContiTech, major investments included the expansion of production capacity for the Mobile Fluid Systems, Benecke-Hornchurch Surface Group and Power Transmission Group business units.
