Tokyo – Sumitomo Rubber Industries has won a lawsuit against Italian manufacturer TEK Automotive Srl concerning infringement of its patents on emergency tire-puncture-repair kit technology.
In a 23 May statement, the Japanese company said it initially filed the lawsuit in the district court of Mannheim, Germany back in October of 2010.
The case claimed the unauthorised use of SRI’s technology in emergency tire puncture repair kits manufactured by TEK Automotive.
“The German courts ruled in our favour with regard to the infringement of both patents in March 2015 and May 2017, respectively,” the company added.
The SRI statement did not give further details on the technology, but said it had obtained patents for it in the US, Germany, the UK, France, Italy and South Africa.
