Kraiburg TPE for new shoe-lacing system
The product, said Kraiburg, is manufactured using an innovative rotary dial, over-moulded with a thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) tailored for functionality and aesthetics.
With Shin Kyung’s patented Freelock mechanism, laces can be tightened or loosened with a rotary dial that contracts or releases multiple wires.
The dial is based on a two-component design comprising a polycarbonate base overmoulded with a TPE – a Thermolast K compound from Kraiburg TPE with an optimised combination of processing, tensile strength and aesthetic characteristics.
The main requirements, said Kraiburg TPE, included easy colourability, high flowability for short cycle times, haptics and “uncompromising” long-term adhesion to the polycarbonate.
