Toyoda Gosei developing 'e-rubber' surgical simulators

Kiyosu, Japan - Toyoda Gosei Co., Ltd. and the Japanese academic medical device start-up EBM Corp. have agreed to work together on the development and adoption of surgical training simulators using ‘e-rubber’.

In an 8 Nov announcement, Toyoda Gosei said it is currently developing the ‘e-rubber’  material , building on its earlier  R&D around “next-generation artificial intelligence and robot core technology.”

The projject with EBM, which develops cardiac-surgery training devices and systems, will look to achieve more life-like simulators, the company statement added.

“Surgical training simulators that accurately reproduce the feel and movement of human organs are needed to improve surgical skills, especially for young doctors,” explained Toyoda Gosei,
