Brussels – The European tire recycling industry is in a state of flux with a deep need for change in the way end of life tyres (ELT) are dealt with, the European Tyre Recycling Association (ETRA) said in an announcement about its 23rd Annual European Tyre Recycling Conference.
This year’s event, on 16-18 March in Brussels, will be under a banner; "The Circular Economy-The Economics of Tyre Recycling". It will focus on the latest challenges and opportunities facing what ETRA said is an “increasingly important and specialised industry”.
The conference is intended for industry professionals involved in all aspects of rubber recycling, from collection, pyrolysis and shredding to polymer blenders and the use of tire materials as fillers in various products.
Speakers will challenge the export of scrap tires and question the way in which the industry is managed across Europe. The presentation will also address investments and development work around new technologies in the industry, ETRA added.
A particular spotlight will be on the use of rubber and other ELT materials as insulation and reinforcement in concrete and cement products.
Another feature will be a “Pyrolysis Forum”, which will examine the latest technologies, products and standards in this promising area of technology.
