Shanghai, China – Mitsui Chemicals Inc. has officially opened its new manufacturing and sales operation for performance compounds in Jinshan District, Shanghai.
The 11-kilotonnes-per-annum facility is operated by wholly owned subsidiary Mitsui Chemicals Functional Composites (Shanghai) Co. Ltd (MFS).
This goal, said Kawachi, would be achieved “together with our customers through environmentally friendly, safe, and stable plant operations.”
According to Mitsui, MFS is strategically situated in eastern China and is targeting China’s rapidly growing automotive and packaging material markets.
In March, the Chinese company started manufacture and sales of its Milastomer thermoplastic elastomer used in automotive window frames and as interior material.
The new plant is also producing Admer, an adhesive polyolefin used in automotive fuel tanks and food packaging materials.
Mitsui said it plans to expand manufacturing, sales, and technical services at the Shanghai operation.
