Reshuffle at Chinese energy firms following “investigations”
Beijing - China's top three energy companies, China Petrochemical Corp. (Sinopec), China National Petroleum Corp. (CNPC) and China National Offshore Oil Corp. (CNOOC), appointed new chairmen on 4 May, according to the companies' websites.
Wang Yupu, former chairman of Daqing Field, the country's largest oil field, replaced Fu Chengyu as chairman of Sinopec as the latter has been working "beyond the designated age."
Wang Yilin, chairman of CNOOC since 2011, was appointed as chairman of CNPC to replace Zhou Jiping, who was also working beyond age. Yang Hua, general manager of CNOOC since 2011, took up Wang Yilin's position as CNOOC chairman.
The reshuffle, coming from the organisation department of the CPC Central Committee, were made against the backdrop of investigations on "serious law and discipline violations" by general managers of Sinopec and CNPC over the past two months.
Leadership of several other central enterprises has also changed.
