Semperit seals deal to buy German profiles producer

Vienna  –  Semperit AG Holding is to acquire Leeser GmbH & Co. KG, a Düsseldorf, Germany-based rubber seals manufacturer, Semperit announced 23 March.

The purchase agreement, which was signed on 19  March, is expected in the second quarter of 2015 subject to anti-trust approvals. The two parties agreed not to disclose the acquisition price.

The deal, said Semperit, will strengthen its Semperform business: enhancing its profile products portfolio, and offering a  platform for further expansion in the market for building profiles.

With 2014 sales of around €37 million and 200 employees, Leeser operates two production plants located near Düsseldorf, Germany. It principally supplies markets the region of Germany, Austria and Switzerland, as well as elsewhere in western Europe.

Leeser complements our existing Semperform business thanks to its high quality product portfolio and innovative solutions, according to Thomas Fahnemann, CEO of Semperit AG Holding.

“With Leeser we can more effectively serve new customers and markets and strengthen our technological base, said Fahnemann.

The acquisition, he added, will help "secure the continuing viability of Leeser and the jobs of its employees on a long-term basis within the Semperit Group.”
