Grimsby, Ontario – RMT Robotics, part of Cimcorp Oy, has joined the Muratec Group as part of the acquisition of Cimcorp Oy (Cimcorp) and its subsidiaries by Kyoto, Japan-based Murata Machinery, Ltd. (Muratec), RMT Robotics announced 3 Nov.
“Both Muratec and Cimcorp will continue business operations going forward with no change to their current strategies,” said a press release from RMT Robotics.
The acquisition would seek to make a “one-stop-shop” for its future customers, added the manufacturer and integrator of robotic gantry-based order fulfilment and tire handling systems.
“With this acquisition, both companies will be able to offer customers the systems for which they are already well known, as well as the full advantage of … systems of both Muratec and Cimcorp,” said Daisuke Murata, president and CEO, Murata Machinery Ltd.
With more than €1.6 billion in annual sales, Muratec is ranked the 4th highest annual sales in the world amongst suppliers of material handling systems, while Finland-based Cimcorp, with estimated 2014 revenue of €60 million, is considered the top supplier for intralogistics in the tire industry.
“For the future, we aim to introduce new innovations for various manufacturing and distribution industries by integrating the experience and knowhow that both Muratec and Cimcorp have developed,” the statement quoted Martti Artama, president, Cimcorp Oy as saying.
