Tokyo – Japanese materials supplier Shin-Etsu has notched up double-digit increases in sales and operating income at its silicones business.
In nine-month report covering April-December 2017, the Japanese company posted 14.7% rise in sales to Yen153,026 million (€1.1 million), compared to the same period last year.
Operating income performed more strongly with a 21.7% year-on-year increase to Yen38,452 million.
The company attributed the growth to firm sales for cosmetic, automotive and electronics products in Japan.
Globally, shipments of both general-purpose products and functional products for the US, Europe and Asia “did well,” said Shin-Etsu.
