Shenzhen, China—DowDuPont Transportation & Advanced Polymers, a business segment of the DowDuPont Specialty Products division, will increase production capacity at its Shenzhen site. The expansion will help the firm meet customer demand for engineered polymers in the automotive, consumer and electronic markets, according to a company statement.

DowDuPont Specialty Products will invest about $42 million to install three new production lines by the second quarter of 2019, with the expectation they will come online by the end of that same year. The investment will support the growing demand for specialty resins including DuPont Zytel polyamide, DuPont Zytel high temperature nylon, DuPont Zytel specialty nylon and DuPont Hytrel thermoplastic polyester elastomer.

The in-house compounding capacity of Hytrel thermoplastic polyester elastomer is the first of its kind in the Asia Pacific region, according to the statement.

Since the Shenzhen facility was opened in June 2016, the company has seen extraordinary growth in customer demand for engineered polymers, according to Randy Stone, president of DowDuPont Transportation & Advanced Polymers.
