Birch Vale, UK — Dow Polyurethanes has launched Hyperlast 153 series polyurethane elastomers which it said, will help the industry meet the regulatory ban on the use of MbOCA (MOCA) due in Europe in 2018.
The company says that the new elastomer does not contain a mercury catalyst, does not need MbOCA curative and is reached 2018 compliant.
Dow said that the latest addition is a multi-component material that enables the processor to select tough, durable elastomers with a hardness range between 55 Shore A and 75 Shore D with four components.
The company as system components are processed at lower temperatures than the full pre-polymer counter types allowing energy savings in production. Additionally, the products are designed to give processes control over pot-life and deem all-time and gives them flexibility in terms of the size of parts that are being produced, Dow said
The company is organising a “come and see” workshop at its facility in Birch Vale, about 17 miles (27 km) south-east of Manchester, UK between 16-17 May.
