Nokia, Finland — Nokian Tyres plc has appointed Hille Korhonen as its new president and chief executive officer with effect from 1 June, the Finnish tire maker announced 28 March.
Interim president and CEO Andrei Pantioukhov will continue in these roles until Korhonen “assumes her duties as CEO,” Nokian said. He will then continue as executive VP of Nokian Tyres and as general manager of its Russian operations.
Last September, Nokian unexpectedly announced that former president and CEO Ari Lehtoranta was leaving at the end of 2016 to pursue interests outside of the company.
Korhonen joins Nokian from Finnish company Alko Oy, where she has been CEO of the alcoholic beverages retailer since 2013. She has also has been a Nokian board member since 2006 and has over 20 years of experience in international consumer business.
Korhonen brings "extensive leadership experience and excellent brand expertise to this position," said Nokian chairman Petteri Walldén, adding that her appointment followed an international recruitment search.
